BU566 Applied window films
As well as allowing daylight and sunshine into a house and providing views and a connection to the outdoors, clear glazing also allows in too much heat, glare or ultraviolet light, can let out too much heat and does not give occupants much privacy. Applying a film to glazing can modify these unwanted characteristics.
This bulletin discusses films used to modify the performance of glazing and replaces Bulletin 421 Windows – films and coatings.
The bulletin covers:
- benefits of applied films
- selecting a window film
- New Zealand Building Code requirements
- materials and installation
- film application
- care of window films
