The purpose of this study is developing a better understanding of measures related to productivity for achieving sustained growth.
Given that there is no agreed set of systemic measures across the supply chain, this study performs a stocktake of productivity measures used in building and construction across different countries within a well-established three-level framework: industry level, firm level and project/activity level.
The discussion focuses on
- how these measures are constructed and used - methodology and data
- who is using these measures and why - key users and purposes
- the fundamental assumptions underpinning these measures
- the associated issues
- recommendations for improving productivity measures at each level.
