SR476 Durability of polyurethane-based structural adhesives and bonded interfaces (2022)

Product Description

This project was initiated in response to a need for more technical information on the durability performance of polyurethane (PUR) adhesives and preservative-treated radiata pine products bonded with PUR adhesives subjected to the environmental conditions relevant to New Zealand’s climate. Testing was comprised of accelerated ageing under a range of temperature and humidity conditions. There is no evidence from this study that would raise concerns around the use of PUR adhesives for service class 3 bonding radiata pine preservative treated with CCA or MCA to hazard class H3.2. Further work would be required to assess the performance of bonding preservative-treated timber with higher retention levels and when exposed to in-ground conditions.
