2. Assessing waste streams


The possibilities for material recycling need to be established at the start of any building project.

Most materials from construction and demolition sites can be reused or recycled – this is dependent on a few factors, such as the:

  • currently available facilities in your area
  • market demand for certain materials
  • quality and condition of materials
  • amount of time available to salvage materials

This section will guide you in finding suppliers and products that align with your waste reduction goals, provide resources for recycling or reusing materials, and give you direction on where you can take your waste.
