SR490 Climate change readiness in the construction sector (2024)

Product Description

The construction sector has a critical role to play in addressing climate change, emphasising the need for both mitigation and adaptation measures. Aotearoa New Zealand’s emissions reduction plan focuses on reducing building-related emissions by targeting embodied carbon and operational emissions.

This study explores how construction companies understand and prepare for climate change through conducting case studies and using interviews and secondary materials. The analysis employs the Energy Cultures framework to assess how companies embed climate change into their organisational practices and cultures.

This report concludes by outlining a toolkit that offers guidance to construction companies who are looking to address climate change and prepare for the transition to zero-carbon construction within their operations.
