SR152 Investigation of the strength and stiffness of dry-bedded masonry ties in various veneer types (2007)

Product Description

This report describes a research investigation that was carried out to determine whether it was possible to achieve satisfactory performance in terms of the performance requirements of the AS/NZS 2699.1:2000 when the ties were dry-bedded instead of being fully encapsulated.

Dry-bedding is the process in which the ties are placed directly on top of the lower course of bricks or blocks and mortar is placed over the top of the tie only.

It was found that dry-bedded ties could achieve the performance requirements required by AS/NZS 2699.1:2000.
