ER5S Can work, cannot afford to buy - the intermediate housing market (summary) (August 2015)

Product Description

Trends in the relative size of the intermediate housing market reflect renter households’ ability to become owner occupiers. The intermediate housing market is defined as households that:

  • are currently in the private rental market
  • have at least one member of the household in paid employment
  • cannot afford to buy a house at the lower quartile house price under standard bank lending criteria.

This is a summary of the key findings in ER5.
