BRANZ is part of a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary team delivering the Affordable Housing for Generations (AHFG) research programme under Phase 2 of National Science Challenge 11 Building Better Houses, Towns and Cities (BBHTC). Responding to the BBHTC Phase 2 strategy, the AHFG research programme addresses the severe undersupply of functional, affordable housing and consequent problems of homelessness, exclusion, drain on communities and local economies, and environmental and resilience risks. The objective of AHFG is to develop practical and effective approaches to alleviate the crisis of affordable housing and housing affordable to key workers, providing tools and solutions that will help ensure an affordable housing stock that supports the life courses of multiple generations in Aotearoa New Zealand. <br><br>BRANZ’s expertise was sought in particular to contribute to one component of the AHFG programme that relates to dwelling performance and affordable housing.
