Building capability to help the construction industry transition to zero carbon
Description
Responsible for about a fifth of carbon emissions in Aotearoa New Zealand, the building industry needs people with greater climate change literacy to enhance processes, products and technology. One of the main ways to enable the industry’s transformation is by educating those designing, developing and constructing New Zealand’s buildings and infrastructure. In 2021, BRANZ partnered with Massey University School of Built Environment for a trial initiative to equip the next generation of construction professionals with the skills and knowledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change. This project builds on that for a further 3 years to increase the number of students and expand the range of activity and stakeholder engagement.
