Applications for 2025 have closed.
BRANZ’s new 10-year Research Investment Strategy sets a bold direction for the sector, committing to invest the Building Research Levy in research that delivers real-world impact through to 2035. We’ve listened to the sector and the strategy responds to the call for urgent action on housing affordability - allocating 60% of new research funding to address this critical issue. With clear priorities spanning quality, resilience and sustainability, BRANZ is focused on supporting practical, transparent and transformative research that benefits all New Zealanders.

Before applying, you must register your interest. Whether you're new or updating existing details, registration ensures you receive the correct application link and updates. Please note that applications sent via email will not be accepted.
Once registered, you’ll receive access to the online application portal. This section guides you through Stage One – the Concept proposal – with sample templates and tutorials tailored for both collaborator-led and scholarship applicants.

After submitting your Concept, it moves to our Subject Matter Expert panel for review.
