A building environmental impact scheme is a tool for evaluating the environmental design or operational performance of a building. There are many schemes currently available with many more under development. While there are commonalities between the schemes, the various methods all differ slightly.

This report provides an assessment of the current building environmental impact schemes being used in Australasia with a view to recommending a scheme for use as the primary scheme in New Zealand. Nine schemes were reviewed.
