SR347 A framework to develop a cohesive structural and fire engineering design approach for buildings

This report develops a framework for a more cohesive design approach to structural engineering and fire engineering for buildings than current ones. It overviews the current design approaches from a perspective of structural engineers and identifies differences and similarities of the two engineering practices.

Based on this holistic understanding, it develops a method to incorporate fire conditions into structural design approaches. Various means to develop design fires and the responses of structural elements are also investigated.
