SR25 Designing multi-storey buildings for wind effects (1990)

Product Description

Available calculation methods for predicting the action of along-wind, across-wind and torsional forces on buildings have been reviewed and a comparison made between the response obtained by these methods and by assuming wind loads specified by various codes, including the current Australian (1989) and Canadian (1985) codes and the proposed revision to the New Zealand code.

The work includes a review of the current limits for building inter-storey drifts and criteria for occupant comfort. Design guidelines have been prepared giving classification procedures for identifying wind-sensitive structures and methods for estimating the wind motion displacements and accelerations.

Worked examples are included to illustrate the recommended methods for typical tall buildings.
