About this programme
There is an urgent need to reframe housing research and policy through a Kaupapa Māori lens that privileges Māori voices, aspirations, and knowledge systems. By centering Māori perspectives on kāinga and papakāinga development, research can move beyond deficit framings to highlight Māori innovation, resilience, and collective solutions. Such a shift is vital not only for addressing inequities but also for advancing mana motuhake, intergenerational prosperity, and culturally grounded housing futures.
