About this programme
A previous BRANZ study of 160 heat pumps around New Zealand has revealed that heat pumps are used quite differently from traditional heaters. Their energy use in actual operation is difficult to estimate. This project followed up the earlier work and aimed to provide much better information about how heat pumps were performing in New Zealand. This information is important, as the use of heat pumps as a primary source of heating in New Zealand homes and businesses continues to grow.
