About this programme
Durability is a key element of the Building Code. The durability requirements for New Zealand are different to many other countries. This work aimed to develop a framework to assess the compatibility and durability of innovative building materials and systems. It aimed to provide answers to some key questions. These include: - What properties are essential to long-term durability and must be assessed? - How do we assess them? - How do we interpret results according to service conditions and are they compatible and durable for use on buildings? On the back of this research it might be possible to develop new guidance and technical solutions. This would support the use of new materials, methods, and techniques for design, construction, renovation, and maintenance.
