Senior Fire Technician
Every fire test is a different problem: that's exactly why Aman Kumar enjoys it.
Aman joined BRANZ in an unusual way – by dropping off his CV at reception when he happened to be walking past. Shortly after, he started in the structures team and moved into fire testing three years later. Now a senior fire technician, he helps run the fire testing lab day to day.
The fire lab handles everything from small-scale cone testing to full-room builds, and Aman is involved at every stage – from pricing and preparation through to the test itself. He brings expertise in both fire resistance and reaction-to-fire testing, including façade systems and ISO room testing.
Aman's studies in civil engineering and his work in the structures lab give him a practical edge, helping him understand how structures perform under load in a fire. And it's the problem-solving he enjoys most: "Different tests, different products, different clients, different problems to take on every day. It keeps you thinking."
