About the role
This is not a purely desk-based role. You’ll be in the lab, hands-on with materials, equipment, and testing processes – developing real technical capability from day one.
- Carry out a range of materials testing (e.g. ageing, thermal, mechanical).
- Prepare samples, operate equipment, and follow test standards accurately.
- Record, analyse, and report test data to a high level of detail.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment.
- Communicate with internal teams and support client queries.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methods and processes.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A relevant science qualification (materials, chemistry, physics, engineering or similar)
- A hands-on, practical mindset – you enjoy working with tools, equipment or building/fixing things
- To be comfortable with process-driven lab work requiring high accuracy
- Strong attention to detail and disciplined approach to following procedures
- Good communication skills and willingness to learn
- Natural curiosity and interest in how materials behave in real-world conditions.
