About the role

This is not a purely desk-based role. You’ll be in the lab, hands-on with materials, equipment, and testing processes – developing real technical capability from day one.

  • Carry out a range of materials testing (e.g. ageing, thermal, mechanical).
  • Prepare samples, operate equipment, and follow test standards accurately.
  • Record, analyse, and report test data to a high level of detail.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment.
  • Communicate with internal teams and support client queries.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methods and processes.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant science qualification (materials, chemistry, physics, engineering or similar)
  • A hands-on, practical mindset – you enjoy working with tools, equipment or building/fixing things
  • To be comfortable with process-driven lab work requiring high accuracy
  • Strong attention to detail and disciplined approach to following procedures
  • Good communication skills and willingness to learn
  • Natural curiosity and interest in how materials behave in real-world conditions.

This role will suit someone early in their career who wants to apply their scientific knowledge in a practical, hands-on environment. If you enjoy understanding how things work, working with your hands, and being part of a team delivering real outcomes – this could be a great fit.
