About the role

We’re now looking for a Materials Scientist to join our team. This is a hands-on, intellectually engaging role suited to someone who enjoys working in the “grey”, applying scientific thinking to real-world problems, and translating complex data into meaningful insights for clients.

  • Design and deliver materials testing programmes across a range of building products.
  • Analyse and interpret complex datasets to generate clear, evidence-based conclusions.
  • Develop and refine testing methodologies and solve technical challenges as they arise.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports for clients and stakeholders.
  • Engage directly with clients, understanding their needs and communicating outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the testing function.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • a strong problem-solving mindset; comfortable making informed judgement calls
  • to be data-driven with the ability to analyse, interpret, and communicate complex results
  • to be a confident communicator with the ability to engage directly with customers
  • to be curious and inquisitive with a learning-oriented mindset
  • have a background in materials science, chemistry, or a related discipline
  • exposure to or interest in AI and emerging technologies is a bonus.

This role will suit someone early in their career who wants to apply their scientific knowledge in a practical, hands-on environment. If you enjoy understanding how things work, working with your hands, and being part of a team delivering real outcomes – this could be a great fit.
