BRANZ. Welcome to BRANZ

The Building Research Levy Act refers to the "establishment and maintenance of a library of books and other publications relating to building construction techniques and materials". As such the BRANZ library was one of the first services to be established at the Building Research Association to help facilitate research for the good of the industry. During its existence, the library has developed a substantial collection of resources, both historical and current.

The primary client of the BRANZ library is research staff employed by BRANZ. However, members of the industry and the public also have access to the library and most of its resources.

What we offer

The library collection consists of more than 43 000 items on a wide range of building and construction related topics. In addition, the library maintains subscriptions to over 100 scientific journals and trade magazines, in both print and electronic format. Subject coverage includes all aspects of building construction, including management, energy efficiency, sustainable design, construction, materials, building techniques, and fire engineering.

The online library catalogue provides the ability to search and retrieve records from our growing collection, and may be used by any interested party. Physical items can be viewed on site at the BRANZ Judgeford campus. Visits to the library are by appointment only. To arrange an appointment, please contact the library using the contact details below. Alternatively, items may be requested by submitting an interlibrary loan request through your organisations' own library (if available) or a public library. Electronic items can only be supplied if copyright permits.

Please take note that current BRANZ publications are not available for loan, but may be purchased and/or downloaded through the BRANZ Bookshop.
