Building Research Levy Prospectus 2019/20

The 2019/20 Building Research Levy Prospectus sets out key themes and priorities that BRANZ will be looking to invest Building Research Levy in.

BRANZ has a portfolio approach to its investment of the Building Research Levy. This is an integrated investment approach to deliver better outcomes in the built environment and make a positive difference to New Zealanders.

There are four main components in our current portfolio: 

  • Multi-year, multi-disciplinary programmes of work;
  • Stand-alone projects;
  • Key initiatives that underpin transfer of accessible knowledge to industry; and
  • Strategic initiatives aimed at driving industry level change and transformation. 

2019/20 Investment

The Prospectus contains research questions reflecting the priorities contained in the Building Research Levy Investment Portfolio Statement 2019/20. View the Building Research Levy Investment Portfolio Statement 2019/20.

The focus of this Prospectus is a call for stand-alone research proposals responding to questions in two themes:  

  • Applying technology to drive change; and
  • Using evidence to improve the performance of the building and construction industry.

BRANZ uses a two-stage process. A short Expression of Interest is assessed, then successful applicants are invited to submit a full application. Information about the process and timetable is contained in the Prospectus. Key dates are:

  • Expressions of interest submitted by 5pm on 8 August 2019 -  NOW CLOSED
  • Notification about yes/no progression to full application - NOW CLOSED
  • Full applications submitted by 5pm on 18 September 2019
  • Applications approved, and announcements made - To be advised
