The aim of the weathertightness stream is to develop a wider range of weathertight building solutions. This involves achieving two things that will allow designers to be confident their designs will perform as desired:
- Developing a calculation basis for moisture design: Previously, we have worked on the development of WUFI (a programme that models heat and moisture transport in building materials) with Germany's Fraunhofer Institute. We will continue this relationship and incorporate findings from the experiments within the WAVE programme
- Mapping out the material properties that give moisture-tolerant walls and those that don't: Designers can then be sure designs using new materials will be successful.
