BRANZ Group 2009/10 Strategy & Business Plan StratBusPlan.JPG

BRANZ is pleased to publicly release its 2009/10 Strategy & Business Plan. More than a few months in the making, the Plan pulls together a medium term (three year) strategic direction for BRANZ, while setting out the specific actions and projects for the 09/10 financial year.

As noted in the combined Chairman (Graham Coe) and CEO (Pieter Burghout) overview and executive summary, BRANZ's financial outlook over the coming few years is not the best, in keeping with the downturn being experienced by the industry. BRANZ fortunately has run some stronger financial surpluses over the last five years or so, and therefore has a solid reserves position to help underwrite the projected conservative Levy revenue outlook - allowing BRANZ to maintain a 'steady as you go' research delivery and leadership focus. In recent years BRANZ has also been proud to work more proactively with the industry on its research and information needs, and the Plan reflects that continued intent.

We have chosen to be open and transparent with the detail captured in the Strategy & Business Plan, hence the confirmation by the BRANZ Board of the management recommendation to publish the Plan on the BRANZ website.

Should readers of the Plan have any queries they would like to follow up, please email Pieter Burghout at pieterburghout@branz.co.nz.

BRANZ Research and Information Agenda 2009ResearchInformationAgenda.JPG

This document is intended to provide the members of the BRANZ Board, and then the Research Agenda Guidance Committee and Levy Allocation Guidance Committee with a central reference document setting out BRANZ's best view of the building and construction industry's immediate to long-trem information needs.

It proposes research and information dissemination topics for investment (independent of BRANZ's interests) of the Building Research Levy in order to meet those industry needs.

It also provides, for completeness, a summary of topics and issues which are not captured in the list of investment priorities, and suggestions on dealing with issues arising from those. The document is a key part of BRANZ's "transparency and accountability" process.
